Getting to Basar

Basar is approximately 155 km from Dibrugarh, Assam, and around 281 km from Itanagar.

 

From Dibrugarh (Assam)

Dibrugarh is the most convenient gateway for visitors arriving by air.

From Dibrugarh Airport, Basar is approximately a four-hour road journey, depending on road and weather conditions.

Dibrugarh Railway Station is also a practical option for visitors travelling by train.

From Itanagar (State Capital)

Basar is approximately 260 kms from Itanagar.

Regular bus and shared vehicle services connect Itanagar and Naharlagun with Basar.

The Journey matters

Road travel in Arunachal is part of the experience. Mountains, forests, waterfalls, rivers and changing landscapes accompany much of the journey to Basar.

Allow enough time. Do not rush it !

For those who prefer sleeping under the open sky, camping offers a different way to experience Basar. Spend the evening around a fire, meet fellow travellers, share music and food, and wake up surrounded by the hills.

ILP/PAP

Before you enter Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh is a protected state and visitors require the appropriate permit to enter. Permits are checked at entry points into the state. Do not begin your journey without confirming that you have the required documents.

Indian Citizens- ILP

ndian citizens from outside Arunachal Pradesh require an Inner Line Permit (ILP).

Apply for your ILP before travelling and keep a copy with you during your journey.

Foreign Visitors- PAP

Foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) to enter Arunachal Pradesh.

PAP arrangements are generally made through authorised channels or registered tour operators.
